Appellate

Our Appellate Practice Group is a sub-section of the Litigation Practice Group, the largest department in the Firm, with more than 50 attorneys and paralegals. Our appellate litigators represent local, regional, national and international clients in all types of review proceedings in state and federal courts. They are available for consultation and referral with attorneys outside the Firm in addition to the rest of the Litigation Practice Group.

By providing a separate Appellate Practice Group, the Firm emphasizes this subspecialty and its unique discipline. In addition to excellent writing and oral argument abilities, our appellate lawyers are skilled at isolating those aspects of a complicated record that are likely to result in practical relief for clients, or to deflect an opposing party's argument, through attention to standards of review, issues of preservations and appellate remedies.

Not only do our appellate litigators practice in appellate courts, but they also consult with Firm trial lawyers and other trial lawyers on how best to perserve and posture issues for future appellate consideration. Computerized legal research, litigation support systems and trained legal assistants aid our appellate lawyers in mastering complicated cases, and finding those approaches that can provide relief in the appellate courts.

Members of the Appellate Practice Group handle appeals for both appellees and appellants in a wide variety of matters through all levels of the federal and state systems. Our appellate attorneys have successfully resolved disputes in all of the Firm's litigation subspecialty practices.
