ATTORNEY JAMES 'CHET' BARCLAY APPOINTED GENERAL COUNSEL FOR THE FLORIDA PATIENT SAFETY CORPORATION
April 13, 2005TALLAHASSEE- James 'Chet' Barclay has been appointed as General Counsel for the Florida Patient Safety Corporation. Mr. Barclay is a partner in the Health Law Practice Group of the Ruden McClosky Law Firm. He is resident in the Tallahassee office located at 215 South Monroe Street.
As a member of the Health Law Practice Group and chair of the Firm's Trade and Professional Association Practice Group, Mr. Barclay concentrates his practice on healthcare regulatory and HIPAA matters, representing healthcare providers and statewide healthcare associations. He is chair of the Health Law Section of The Florida Bar. Mr. Barclay previously served as General Counsel for the Florida Hospital Cost Containment Board and as Chief Certificate of Need Counsel of the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. Mr. Barclay is a member of The Florida Bar and the American Health Lawyers Association. He was founding editor in chief of the Health Law Section's '2003 Florida Practitioner's Health Law Handbook,' and he is past chair of the Health Law Section's HIPAA committee.
The Florida Patient Safety Corporation serves as a learning organization dedicated to assisting health care providers in Florida improve the quality and safety of health care rendered and
to reduce harm to patients. It promotes development of a culture of patient safety in the health care system. The Corporation does not regulate health care providers but works with patient safety centers and other patient safety programs.
