RUDEN McCLOSKY MAKES $40,000 DONATION TO TSUNAMI RELIEF FUND
February 25, 2005Fort Lauderdale The Ruden McClosky law firm announces its $40,000 donation to AmeriCares for the Tsunami Relief fund.
On January 10, 2005, Ruden McClosky's Executive Director, David Lane announced that the Firm's partners challenged all attorneys and staff to contribute what they could to help the victims of this recent natural disaster. Through a Firm matching program, Ruden McClosky offered to match each partner donation 'dollar for dollar'; for each associate or staff member, the Firm matched $4 per each dollar donated. The total collected by Ruden McClosky staff, attorneys and firm was $40,000.
AmeriCares launched a rapid emergency response effort in the days following the tsunami, sending relief teams into India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Between December 30, 2004 and January 20, 2005, the humanitarian agency delivered seven airlifts into those countries, carrying a total of 160 tons of relief supplies to benefit more than 1.5 million people. Currently they are working on a clean water initiative in Sri Lanka and a Malaria initiative in Indonesia.
