LEONARD L. KLEINMAN APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UJC
November 10, 2003TAMPA Leonard L. Kleinman, Of Counsel to the Tampa office of the law firm of Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell, P.A., was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of the United Jewish Communities (UJC). The UJC represents 156 Jewish Federations and 400 independent communities across North America. Through the United Jewish Appeal Federation Campaign, UJC provides life-saving and life-enhancing humanitarian assistance to those in need in North America, throughout Israel, the former Soviet Union, and 60 countries around the world.
Mr. Kleinman concentrates his practice in general corporate and tax work. He has substantial experience in the resolution of business disputes and the representation of clients in federal and state tax investigations and disputes, from the administrative level through trial. Adjunct to his 30 years in the active practice of law, Mr. Kleinman has previously served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the New York Yankees and as vice chairman of the American Shipbuilding Company and a branch chief of the audit division of the Internal Revenue Service.
Active in several community and national philanthropic organizations, Mr. Kleinman serves as national First Vice President of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) as well as a member of JNF's national Executive Board and Board of Trustees. . In addition he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Holocaust Museum, the Tampa Jewish Federation Community Board and Menorah Manor Foundation Board and the Advisory Board of the Cleveland Marshall College of Law of Cleveland State University. A past president of Congregation Schaarai Zedek, he formerly served on the boards of the Fairmount Theater of the Deaf and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC).
