Law Students
Summer Associate Program
The Ruden McClosky Summer Associate Program is designed to expose current law students to an array of practice areas of law within the full spectrum of the firm's client service areas.
Most of our Summer Associate Program Candidates are selected through our On-Campus Recruiting process during the months of August and September of each year, for the following summer program. Other candidates may be selected as a result of inquiries by mail or via the internet.
The Program is 10 weeks in length and begins in May and ends in August.
Our Summer Associate Program is designed to accurately reflect what a full-time 1st-year attorney will experience if hired as an Associate. This includes a detailed and realistic view of the firm and its lawyers, as well as the business, social and cultural aspects of the communities in which our offices are located. Summer Associates are assigned a wide variety of projects involving: research, writing, preliminary drafting of pleadings, briefs, memorandums and opinion letters. After each project is completed, feedback is provided by the supervising Partner who assesses the Associate's performance. Formal feedback sessions are held at midsummer and at the end of the program by a committee of partners to inform the Summer Associates of their strengths as well as areas for possible improvement.
An important aspect of life at Ruden McClosky is our strong "community". A key part of the Summer Associate Program is the social program. The firm hosts a variety of social events in a casual atmosphere, enabling our Summer Associates to become better acquainted on a personal level with their colleagues in the Program and with the attorneys of the firm.
Ruden McClosky takes pride in its Summer Associate Program and our strong record of success in hiring well-qualified 1st year associates through the Program. Please contact your school's Career Development Center for further information.
