SUPPORT STAFF - Public Relations & Events Coordinator

Prestigious Florida law firm with multiple locations has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Public Relations and Events Coordinator to be based in Fort Lauderdale.  This key position supports the firm’s Business Development efforts through proactive, high quality external communications and promotional activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and build media contacts and media lists for the Firm, for regional offices and for practice areas.
  • Draft and distribute news releases (attorney announcements, firm events, awards, significant matters, etc.).
  • Produce new attorney communications: announcement cards, press releases, other.
  • Identify publicity opportunities and identify and promote attorneys as media sources.
  • Assist with advertising, collateral materials and other copy writing projects.
  • Maintain currency of web site content to include online versions of print collateral, newsletters, news releases, awards, and other information.
  • Submit attorney and firm information for national, regional and local attorney listings, rankings and directories.
  • Track and file media clips and produce internal news clips bulletins.
  • Proofread marketing department print projects including all practice area newsletters and coordinate print production and mailing with outside vendors.
  • Coordinate planning, promotion, execution and follow-up for client events.
  • Other PR and Business development activities as may be required.
  • Provide support to Communications Manager, and assist Director of Marketing as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline.
  • 2-3 years minimum experience in professional services, law firm or other business to businesses Public Relations or Marketing Communications (full time) capacity.
  • Proven experience with media relations, news releases, and newsletters.
  • Events management experience from initial planning and promotion through execution and follow-up.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid Microsoft Office Suite skills including Excel and Powerpoint.( InDesign or other Graphic Design program experience is desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with superb command of English language:  grammar, spelling and proofreading
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
