Ms. Cummings' professional practice focuses on family law matters such as dissolution of marriage, alimony, asset distribution, child support and custody cases and paternity. She advises and counsels clients on a full range of legal issues that arise from the family relationships of husband and wife, or parent and child. 

She is head of the Ruden McClosky Family Law Practice Group. She is Board Certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in the practice of marital and family law.

Ms. Cummings is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In addition to her certification as a specialist in marital and family law, she is a certified family law mediator and circuit/civil mediator.

Ms. Cummings serves as a representative to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. She has also served on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar and is an appointee of the Florida Supreme Court to The Florida Bar Foundation Board of Directors. She serves both as chair of the Development Committee and as a member of  the Executive Committee of the Foundation Board.

Ms. Cummings previously served as chair of the Judicial Nominating Commission of the 17th Judicial Circuit.  She has served as president of the South Broward Bar Association, as president of the Nova Law Alumni Association, and she has served on the Board of Directors of the Broward County Bar Association. She is a former member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar (representative of the 17th Judicial Circuit), former chair of the Board's Communications, Access and Program Evaluation Committees and former member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors. She has also served as Board of Governors liaison to the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar and as Chair of The Florida Bar 2004 Annual Meeting Committee.

In addition, Ms. Cummings is recognized in Florida Super Lawyer 2006-2008, and is also being named in the top 50 female Super Lawyers. She is listed in the Best Lawyers in America . Ms. Cummings has lectured before numerous professionals and groups in the family law field including the Broward County and the Palm Beach County Bar Associations. She has served as a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and she has lectured at The Florida Bar's Practicing with Professionalism seminar.
