Mr. Smith has concentrated in real estate transactions of all kinds for more than 50 years. They include the development of condominium projects, shopping centers, major office buildings and residences. He has developed a proficiency in Ninety-Nine Year Leases and the use of leases as an alternate method of financing and is considered an authority on Florida title matters.

Mr. Smith served as outside counsel for Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund, Inc. for more than 25 years and has testified as a real estate authority in many court proceedings. He has extensive experience in dealing with governmental authorities in the negotiation of franchises, privatization of public facilities, as well as personal involvement before planning and zoning departments of the various municipalities and county commissions. Additionally, Mr. Smith has handled hundreds of mortgage and mortgage-related banking transactions, both on behalf of lending institutions and borrowers.

Mr. Smith has lectured at The University of Miami Real Property Institute on the drafting of real estate contracts and the consummation of real estate transactions and the various pitfalls involved.

Mr. Smith has been involved in community service for many years. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious 1991 Silver Medallion for Community Service from The National Conference of Christians and Jews and was chosen as the Volunteer Leader of the Year by The United Way of Dade County.

Mr. Smith has been named for the past ten years in Who's Who in American Law and in The Best Lawyers in America for the past 20 years. He also has been consistenly named "Top Lawyer in South Florida" by the South Florida Legal Guide, 2002-2010.
