A member of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Ms. Berkowitz concentrates her practice in trademark and copyright matters, computer law and unfair competition matters. She has extensive experience in copyright and trademark registration prosecutions, clearance, counseling and rendering opinions on strategies for maximizing, identifying, protecting, securing, policing, and managing intellectual property assets. Ms. Berkowitz prosecutes both domestic and international trademark applications and represents clients in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Ms. Berkowitz represents clients in a broad spectrum of industries and represents a number of clients in the Apparel Industry in connection with domestic and foreign copyright and trademark matters.
Professionally, Ms. Berkowitz is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of The Florida Bar, the Broward County and Federal Bar Associations and the Broward County Woman Lawyers Association.
In 1998 Ms. Berkowitz received the Pro Bono Service Award for her outstanding contribution in the category of Arts Law to “Put Something Back,” a joint pro bono project of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and the Dade County Bar Association.
Active in the community, Ms. Berkowitz currently serves on the Board of Directors of Artserve, Inc. of Broward County, the Executive Committee of the Annual Work-Life Balance Conference for Businesswomen and is a member of the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade County. Previously, she served on the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council Festivals/Special Events and Cultural Advancement Grants Panels.
Ms. Berkowitz is a Fellow of Brandeis University. While in law school, Ms. Berkowitz was Editor of the Brooklyn Law School Journal of International Law.
